Success

[EN] What is “success“? Although the term can be described with many definitions as there are characters, I would like to take as starting point the definition of WordReference:

1. the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goals.
2. the attainment of wealth, position, honors, or the like.
3. a performance or achievement that is marked by success, as by the attainment of honors
4. a person or thing that has had success, as measured by attainment of goals, wealth, etc.
5. Obsolete, outcome.

The dictionary definition is closely linked with “reaching a happy ending” and here is where I want to change the point of view: “Success is not reaching destination but enjoying the walk”. After projects that lasts months (for minutes only to De exposure (in a musical album or a chorus) I realized that for any process the end was overvalued and it was easy to lose sight of the best: The Road. How much time do we invest in achieving something? How much time we enjoy it?

Carpe diem. I learned to respect my road, to honor my existence and enjoy the journey (reaching the goal or not) and no other road than thw shared with others: God, friends and family.

Luego de 25 años y muchos hermosos proyectos creativos,
reviso mis experiencias y redefino qué tiene valor para mí

Éxito

[ES] ¿Qué significa “éxito”? Aunque el término puede ser descrito con tantas definiciones como personas haya, me gustaría tomar como punto de partida la definición de la RAE:

éxito. (Del lat. exĭtus, salida).
m. Resultado feliz de un negocio, actuación, etc.
m. Buena aceptación que tiene alguien o algo.
m. p. us. Fin o terminación de un negocio o asunto.

La definición de diccionario está íntimamente ligada con “llegar a un final feliz” Y aquí es donde quiero aportar otro punto de vista: Éxito no es llegar a destino, sino disfrutar el camino. Luego de proyectos que duraban meses para solo minutos de exposición (en un álbum musical o un muestra del coro) me di cuenta de que en todo proceso el final estaba sobrevaluado y era fácil perder de vista lo mejor: el camino. ¿Cuánto tiempo invertimos en lograr algo? ¿Cuánto tiempo en disfrutarlo?

Carpe diem. Aprendí a respetar mi historia, honrar mi existencia y disfrutar el camino (haya llegado a la meta o no). Y no cualquier camino, sino el que comparto con otros: Dios, familia y amigos.
